April 19, 2016 – Grant recipient must attend the Grants Reception and Dinner and formally accept the grant. Grant funds may be used to support the grantee’s registration and attendance at this Annual Meeting.

The AACR-Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO Young Investigator Translational Cancer Research Award provides funding to promising investigators to encourage and promote quality research in clinical oncology. The purpose of this jointly-supported award is to fund a physician-scientist during the transition from a fellowship program to a faculty appointment. Research projects are restricted to translational cancer research.
The grant provides $50,000 over one year for expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient, other personnel, research/laboratory supplies, equipment, publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project, other research expenses, and indirect costs.
It is anticipated that one grant will be funded.

Research Project Criteria

Research projects may be in any area of translational cancer research.

Eligibility Criteria

At the start of the grant term on July 1, 2016, applicants must be in the last two years of his/her final subspecialty training; have a valid, active medical license in the country in which he/she applied; have a mentor in the proposed research field from the sponsoring institution that will assume responsibility and provide guidance for the research; be able to commit at least 60% of full-time effort in research (applies to total research, not just the proposed project) during the grant term; be planning an investigative career in clinical oncology; and work in an oncology laboratory or clinical research setting at an academic medical institution anywhere in the world.
Applicants must have a medical degree (M.D., D.O., or international equivalent), or hold a combined M.D./Ph.D. and not currently be a candidate for a further doctoral or professional degree.
Employees or subcontractors of a U.S. government entity or for-profit private industry are not eligible.
Any individual who currently holds an active AACR grant may not apply. Past grantees may apply if they complied with all progress and financial report requirements.
Investigators may submit only one application for the AACR-Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO Young Investigator Translational Cancer Research Award but may concurrently apply for other AACR grants. However, applicants are expected to accept the first grant they are awarded. Individuals may accept and hold only one AACR grant at a time.

Citizenship Requirements

There are no citizenship or geographic requirements. However, by submitting an application for this grant, an applicant applying from an institution located in a country in which he/she is not a citizen or a permanent resident assures that the visa status will provide sufficient time to complete the project and grant term at the institution from which he/she applied
AACR Membership Requirements
​AACR membership is required. Nonmembers interested in this grant opportunity must submit a satisfactory application for AACR Associate Membership by Tuesday, December 15, 2015. The application will be applied to 2015 membership dues.
