The PhD program of the Helmholtz Graduate School for Macromolecular Bioscience will start in February 2016. The positions are planned for 3-years and will be initially a 1-year fixed term contract with subsequent evaluation.
The Helmholtz Graduate School for Macromolecular Bioscience offers excellent interdisciplinary training in fundamental and application-oriented research in the field of macromolecular and biomaterial science.
PhD candidates benefit from the wide range of expertise and the high-end resources of the partner institutions, providing a unique synergetic education and enabling research at the frontier of research areas. The PhD curriculum comprises a broad variety of courses, lectures, and workshops enabling students to gain substantial knowledge in the main research areas and introducing them to new technologies.
The PhD program is structured according to international quality standards, individually chosen mentoring committees, and professional training in non-scientific key skills to prepare the PhD for a career in science, academia, and beyond. The Graduate School provides a regularly attended coordination office supporting the PhD students. The program’s primary language is English.
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in natural science or engineering preferably in the following fields:
- chemistry
- polymer science
- mechanical, chemical, biological and pharmaceutical engineering
- physics
- pharmacy
