Holland Government Scholarship for International Students in the Netherlands

Financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, the program is open for those brightest aspirants who are keen to study in the Netherlands at any undergraduate and postgraduate degree program. The studentship is open for the academic year 2021-2022.

Through this opportunity, aspirants can study in any participating research universities in the Netherlands. The grant is awarded for one year and can only be received once. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this educational program, candidates are required to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Applicant must be a nation of a non-EEA country.
  • Applicant must be applying for a full-time bachelor’s or master’s programme at one of the participating Dutch higher education institutions.
  • Candidate must meet the specific requirements of the institution of their choice.
  • Candidate must not have a degree from an education facility in the Netherlands.

  • The scholarship amounts to € 5,000.
  • Applicants will receive this in the first year of your studies.

How to Apply for the Scholarship

For applying to this studentship, candidates are required to follow the application procedure:

Step 1: Apply for Admission

Before applying for this studentship, you must take admission in the undergraduate and postgraduate degree coursework at any of participating research universities or in the participating universities of applied sciences. After enrolling, the university will contact you to let you know if you have been awarded a scholarship.

Step 2: Submit required documents

For bachelor degree:

  • High school diploma at the appropriate level
  • List of subjects with grades from your high school
  • Diploma showing your level of English (TOEFL or IELTS)

For master’s programmes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the same field of study as your master’s programme or equivalent
  • List of subjects with grades
  • Diploma showing your level of English (TOEFL or IELTS)

Language Requirements

For studying in the Netherlands, candidates must have a sufficient level of English proficiency is required. Similarly, our Dutch-taught programmes require an adequate level of Dutch proficiency. The two English tests that are accepted in all institutions are:

  • IELTS: for this test, you will need at least a result of 6.0. Some programmes may require a result of 6.5 or 7.0.
  • TOEFL: the minimum score for the Internet-Based Test (IBT) is 80 (equivalent to 550 on the Paper Based Test, PBT). Some programmes require a higher score. The computer-based result should be 213.

Entry Requirements

To be accepted for admission at the university, candidates are recommended to meet the entry requirements of the university:

  • For applying to the undergraduate degree, candidates need to hold the high school degree certificate.
  • For postgraduate degree, aspirants are required to hold the undergraduate degree certificates.

Visa Requirements

To be able to study in the Netherlands, you may need to apply for a residence permit and an entry visa. This depends on your nationality. You will need to supply various documents, including documents that demonstrate the purpose of your journey.
