Study abroad is one of the most expensive decisions for many students. But don’t let that put you off, the Government of Flanders is giving you a chance to finance your study through Master Mind International Scholarships in Belgium
The fund is established to encourage outstanding students who want to commence master’s degree coursework in one of the universities of Flanders and Brussels. The studentship is open for the academic year 2021-2022.

Eligibility Criteria
All nationalities can apply for the scholarship program. The student must obtain a previous degree be from a higher education institution located outside Flanders.
Candidates who are already enrolled in the Flemish Higher Education Institute may not apply
The applicant must have a good standard of academic performance and/or ability:
- The applicant needs to have a Grade Point Average of 3.5 out of 4.0:
- Students can check their GPA through calculator here.
- The applicants must have good knowledge of the English language:
- The student must have an overall band score of minimum 7.0 on the IELTS test or a minimum total score of 94 on a TOEFL test;
- A C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference;
- or a similar result in another official language test (recognized by the Host institution)
Benefits of the Program
- The scholarship amount is € 8.000 for the academic year 2020-20 and € 8.000 for the academic year
- In the case of 2021-2022, an application was submitted for a two-year master’s program.
- The Flemish Host Institution may ask the applicant for a tuition fee of a maximum of € 111.9 per year. This rate may increase slightly from year to year.
- The mobility period is one academic year for the Master Program of 60 ECTS and two academic years for the Master Program of 120 ECTS.
English Language Requirement
- Applicant must have an overall band score of minimum 6.5 on the IELTS test or a minimum total score of 90 on the TOEFL test;
- a B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference;
- or a similar result in another official English language test (recognized by the Host institution).
Application Procedure
The applicants submit their application to the Host institution within the internal deadlines set by the Host institutions.
Step 1: Apply for Admission
- The host institute also conducts academic checks of the student’s file.
- The student must be accepted by the host institution to be able to receive the scholarship.program; this criterion applies.
- This criterion also applies if the host institution’s decision to accept the student has been taken after the selection of the Master Mind Scholarship program.
Step 2: Submit required documents
- Passport photograph
- International passport or national ID
- Transcript of records written in a language other than Dutch, French, German or English, a certified translation must be attached.
- English language test result or letter of waiver provided by the host university of Belgium
- Letter of motivation written in English
- Two letters of recommendation from professors of your (previous) Home university, University of Applied sciences, School of Arts or recent employer written in English.
- Copy of acquired diplomas written in another language than Dutch, French, German or English, a certified translation must be attached.
- Three reasons for the motivation are needed to submit at least 150 words of the candidate’s application in English prepared by the host institution.
