Broader Middle East & North Africa Association of Young Scientists (BAYS)
Introduction
Youth is an important pillar of any society; it can play a very vital role in strengthening any process in society. Empowerment of youth regarding any issue can exceed progress toward achieving goals. In order to increase the involvement of youth in decision & policy making it is necessary to address the youth.
BMENA region is very rich with youth the current spring of change in Middle East based on youth. In order to increase the efforts regarding safe & secure society we think to establish a plate form of young scientist of different disciplines from BMENA region. Through this we can increase the mutual cooperation in the field of science & technology in BEMNA region. It will help youth in understanding of critical issues that underlie international collaboration and scientific engagement in the biological sciences. This plate form also produce urge in young scientists to work for the responsible conduct of research and unite for building of secure society.
Objectives:
- To promote the multidisciplinary scientific collaborations in the region and with the rest of world by organizing multi-disciplinary research activities among national and international young scientists
- Building of the safe & secure society through professional development of regional youth
- Promotion of research based culture in the region through networking of young scientists to established a bridge to facilitate exchange programs, sharing of facilities, current literature, and expertise among young scientists within the region , as well as from all over the world
- Organizing regional study & research projects to overcome the gaps between nations & to find solution for common problems
- Bridge the regional talent & intellectual resources through organizing conferences & workshops
- Improving the quality of research in the region by increasing the awareness regarding international standers of research & ethics for promulgating best practices and excellence in scientific research
- Provide a source to bridge the gap between young & senior scientists
- Establishing a regional website & journals for information sharing & scientific publications
- Establish and develop the collaboration and networking among young scientists, researchers of the region in the fields of science and technology thru conducting regional annual and or quarterly basis workshops/conference, follow up on collaboration, indentifying the focal points in each country.
- Improving the opportunities for young scientist to contribute in policy making relating science and technology thru extensive collaborations among indentified focal points on quarterly basis.
- Providing Biorisk (Safety and Security) awareness programs, dual use & responsible conduct of Biorrisk research programs throughout the countries. This part will serve and get support the thru Biosafety Associations in certain periods within coordination of BAYS.
- Continues follow up on regional scientific activities thru conducting annual meetings/conferences in the region and ensuring coordination of support among Biosafety Associations, young scientist and BAYS.

Organization
BAYS executive committee will lead by president under guidance of Patron in Chief Patron. President has the team of Chief Coordinator, Program Relation Focal Point, Vice Chief Coordinator, General Secretary and IT coordinator and Event coordinator. Each country has its chief coordinator and body. However only chief coordinator of each country will be member of central executive committee of BAYS.
Except the post of patron in chief & patron all post will be occupied by student or young scientist of that country with age limit of 35 years old. The selected body by member vote will act for five years.

Following body was structured informally on the occasion of 2nd AAAS conference on Infectious Diseases and International Engagement: Responsible Science for a Safe and Secure Society held from October 31 to November 1, 2011 in Tunisia.
